Can you imagine two sensible parents giving up their ‘nice’ lifestyle at home, renting out the house, giving up a career, and then taking their two children (3 and 7 year old girls) around the world for a year on a backpacking trip?
Well, that’s exactly what we did in 2003 & 2004. You don’t need to imagine…you can follow the whole trip on this website, and see how we got on.
This was us, when we didn’t know what the next year was going to be like! We gave it all up, packed a rucksack each, booked a round the world ticket, and went – 369 days, 14 countries and thousands of miles by car, camper, bus, train, plane, elephant, rickshaw, bicycle, boat and on foot.
You could start by reading the basics – about us, travelling with children, how and why we created this website, or read “the questions everyone asks about travelling with children”
Or read the sections of our journey and diary, set out in chronological order:

Vietnam
(I’m currently rebuilding this website – it died after 10 years of no maintenance, so the extra sections below are being added by mid-2023)
Malaysia (Part 2 – Borneo and East Coast)
